Lopes Wins 4X World Championships

September 10, 2005 ? Fort William, Scotland ? Team GT/Hyundai rider Brian Lopes has won the overall 2005 World Cup 4X Series Title in Fort William, Scotland.

Thousands of spectators roared as Flyin? Brian Lopes rolled down the course for his qualifying run wearing a red wig and Scottish hat, representing Lopes' excitement and anticipation for the final race of the World Cup series. It was all about the fun.

Lopes qualified 6th and met up with Gee Atherton (GBR), Leve Ove Nordmark (NOR) and Guido Tschugg (GER) in the finals. Tschugg moved in on Lopes, causing both of the riders to brake and allowing for Nordmark to take the lead. Nordmark took the opportunity and carried it across the finish line.

While Lopes did not win the race he did win the OVERALL World Cup Series Title for 4X, making this year one of Lopes? best. From your friends and fans at GT and Pacific Cycle, congratulations, Brian.
