Attendance:   10,500

Randy Stumpfhauser:

AA Pro Saturday:2nd

AA Pro Sunday: 4th

After a month off break since winning the NBL Elite Men’s Title, Stumpy was ready to bit of ABA racing this weekend in Lancaster, CA. He was really looking like he was the guy to beat on Saturday. Just as the mains began, it started to rain, so it would be one slippery dash lap for the cash. He slipped and squirted all the way down the front straight and found himself in the back of the pack in turn one. That’s when the mayhem insued. He made a really good move to avoid the carnage and went quickly to second. He tried to run down the race leader, Danny Caluag –Intense Bikes, but he came just short at the line. The finish was so close, that they had to check the video to see who actually got the win. As he has already done a few times in 2008 and has done MANY times in his career, he stepped it up a bit more on Sunday. In the mains, he had more good gate starts and was riding really well. Heading into the third round, he was the low points leader. He’d still have to be right in there in round three to get the overall win. It wasn’t meant to be, as he got squeezed by the other riders coming out of the gate and was in dead last coming out of turn one. He made up some ground, but on this tight track, it was nearly impossible to move up far enough. A sixth place finish was only good enough to net him fourth for the day.  All in all, it was a good weekend for GT and Stumpfhauser.

Mike Day:

Saturday:$10,000 Olympic Bonus

Mike didn’t race this weekend, due to a bad sinus cold and the fact that he was leaving Monday morning for a UCI SX race in France. He was on hand to be recognized by the ABA for his recent Olympic accomplishment and to be awarded a bonus check for $10,000. He signed TONS of autographs and was even put on the mic in the middle of the infield to share his Olympic story with the crown. He was really well received and represented GT with flying colors!! Nice job Mike!!

Eric Rupe:

Vet Pro Saturday: 6th

Pro Cruiser: 5th

Vet Pro Sunday: 6th

Pro Cruiser: 4th

Big Daddy has been a having a tough go of it, trying to come back from injury this year, but as of late, he’s made some solid progress. This past weekend at the ABA So Cal Nationals in Lancaster, CA was his best outing so far in 2008. He rode well enough to make the Vet Pro mains each day, which these days, is no easy feat. He also was in the Pro Cruiser mains each day and THAT is pretty cool. On the gate was the 45 year old Rupe and the rest of the pack were AA Pro riders. He managed a fifth on Saturday and an even better fourth on Sunday. Good job Big Daddy.

The GT team sponsors include: Kenda, Shimano, Sun Rims, Fly Racing, OGIO, SDG, RSP Products and Champion System.
