  • XC Materials

Our X/C race bikes are constructed using either our proprietary FOC carbon fabrication process for minimal flex, or our lighter-weight speed metal for easier climbs.

Our proprietary FOC methodology for carbon frame fabrication allows us to make a bike frame that doesn’t flex in ways it shouldn’t because of pedaling, steering or impact forces. Basically, you get a frame that rides the way you want without sacrificing the strength and durability you need.

GT Speed Metal™ is a light-weight aluminum construction designed to be light enough so you can climb with the XC crowd, with the ability to leave them comfortably behind on the way down.

  • Independent Drivetrain™

This suspension does its job. Period. Because it operates independently of the drivetrain, the suspension can focus solely on its intended purpose – a smoother, faster ride – without making compromises in pedaling efficiency. And because it’s an inherently simple design, it’s easy to set up, ride and maintain. Sound good? Good.

  • Triple Triangle™

Originally developed to extend the frame life, stiffen the rear triangle and thus create a faster, more responsive ride, the Triple Triangle™ frame has transcended its role as just another tech story and become an iconic symbol of who we are and what we stand for.

Comments about gt 2013 Zaskar 9R Comp:

The bike as a whole is really good, some nice components on it. 2x10 drive train is nice and shifts easily, hydrolic disc brakes and Rox Shox are a plus too. Frame is fairly light for the money as well. Just be weary, I think where GT is saving money on this and other mid level cost set ups is in the wheel set. The first time (3 months after purchase) I went down hill on some pretty rocky and heavy terrain, I had my front rim bend badly on me and barely made it off the trail.

Comments about gt 2013 Zaskar 9R Comp:

After months of test rides, I finally decided on the GT Zaskar 29r Comp. I was originally looking at the Karakoram -Hans Rey or the Karakoram 1. I happened upon a bike store that carried the Zaskar and subsequently bought it.
Great Frame, very stiff, climbs well because of it. The power goes straight to the rear tire.
I love the Rock Shox recon fork. Air adjustable also has a rebound adjuster(turtle to rabbit)
Shock has a handlebar remote lockout, which makes for an easy on-the-fly adjustment.
Components seem very capable SRAM X-7 for the most part. I have come from the Shimano push pull type, so, It takes a minute to re-adjust to a push push configuration. They seem to shift well and do the job expected of them.
Brakes and levers seem like they do a good job, although I noticed on a longer downhill section of the trail that the brake power faded as they heated up. The disc was actually smoking a bit when I got to the bottom. A larger disc would probably solve the problem.
This model has a 2x10 drivetrain, which I really like so far.
The stock rear tire seemed to break free while climbing in anything but hardpack conditions, I actually changed it out after the first ride and have adjusted my riding stance a bit.
Tire clearance at the rear dearailer on the downtube is very slim. I wonder if a deep lugged tire would even fit.
The clips that hold(or not)the cables to the frame seem to come off too easy, I have lost two already and now just carry some small zip ties to replace the clips as they fall off.
This bike is a 29er and it is my first. I like how it rolls over obsticles much easier than a 26 inch. I like the feel of the larger size overall. Seems like a little bit more rubber meets the trail. One adjustment that I am still getting used to is manuevering around switchbacks, it's a bit interesting to say the least.
I bought the bike on sale and no other bike could match the frame quality, componentry and shock for the price.
Overall, I really am enjoying this bike and have no regrets on the purchase, I just have a few nitpicks here and there.

I ride the hills in Orange County CA - mostly Aliso & Woods Canyon area near my house. I am blessed to be able to ride out my garage into this paradise!
The bike is amazing. I made the switch from a 26" dual suspension to this "9r" hardtail. My climbs have improved and I find myself besting my Strava logs on the trails. The bike feels great, not too stiff - even launching down Lynx. Climbs amazing - I LOVE the 2 x 10 Sram drivetrain - thinking about someday going to 1 up front!

The only negative is that the grips that come with the bike are a bit "foamy" (to me anyway)- I got new ones right away, but that is hardly a big deal.

This bike is helping me get ready for the Catalina Island Gran Fondo - ready to beat my time from last year!

                          Thanks GT!!
