              Comments about Gtr Series 3:

I got started in cycling many years ago and had a fixed gear Schwinn Paramount and a 5 speed Urago road bike. My Grandson showed interest in cycling while competing in Special Olympics in Michigan. I decided at that time to get him a cheap bike to see if the interest was there. Well on an $88.00 dollar bike he won 2 gold metals and asked if he could do this next year and in the mean time I became a Special Olympics Cycling coach. For him birthday he is getting one of the 2 GT Gtr Series 3 bikes yes I purchased 2 because I wanted to be able to keep up with him. I have been riding on the indoor trainer and this bike is all that I would of expected as a beginner bike. It shifts well and with the integrated shifter's you can micro shift and stop the chain from rubbing on the front derailleur so you can use all 10 gears either on the 34 or 50 chain-ring tho it is not advised because you will wear out your chain faster. The bike overall has some sweet options and I can't wait to get it out on the road with the Grandson. Note: I did have one issue so I wrote to GT and they sent me to a local bike shoe who carried the bikes and it was fixed in less than 20 minutes and I was on my way Thanks GT

              decent road-bike on a budget

                    Comments about Gtr Series 3:

As an ex-racer on a strict post '08 budget, I wanted something as good as possible for the cost. I bought a 2012 model on clearance and w/a few mods it is a bike I can ride. The brakes looked good but were very sketchy. I replaced them w/a set of Shimano Ultegra brakes I had. The tires were like rocks at full pressure, so I replaced them also. Possibly if you were to run them w/less pressure they would be ok, but I'm pretty hard-core when it comes to rubber. The bike is not light, but not so heavy to be a deal-breaker, especially for the money. It is very stiff, which I like and all the other parts work well. It looks like a more expensive bike than it is. Not sure I would pay retail, but at roughly half of that it is worth it.

I have the 2012 series 3, ride 15 to 25 miles about5 times a week.Bike is responsive, shifts and brakes great.Im not a hard core but suits my needs for training rides. I would place the geometry somewhere between race and comfort. Not super agressive nor relaxed.Nice paint job, have had quite a few compliments on bikes looks. Pretty sweet ride with the carbon forks, really dont feel any road buzz at all.Check it out if this is your price point. Quite nice!
