We purchased another well known balance bike before buying the GT Mach1 push bike. Although the first bike was much lighter it didn't have real rubber tires and unless it was on a rough surface would slip out from underneath my son and make him crash.

The GT is sturdy and perfect for the local outdoor mall and skate park. Both have mostly smooth concrete and wood riding surfaces that would cause a wipe on his original bike with slick polymer tires.

Don't take my word for it here is a great video of the GT Mach 1 push in action under the control of my 2.5 year old.
