        Comments about 2014 Karakoram Elite:

GT being leaders in the BMX trade, renowned for their innovative Triple Triangle Design, have created a range of Hardtail Trail bikes, equiped with the same Triple Triangle Structure, designed to reduce vibration in the rear of the bike. Adding more stability and strengtg to the frame and comfort at the seatpost.
This model came with many leading brand components, Shimano Deore XT shadow rear derailleur, Avid hydrolic breaks and RockShox XC28 forks both Powered by SRAM. The Continental RaceKing 2.2 come in the new 29ers. Kore handlebar flats adding to a whole new experience in Trail Blazing.
After reading up on reviews on the components, my confidence in my choice of purchase somewhat dwindled, many comments of weak fragile derailleur, soft compounded tyres prone to punctures, and the thin tyre walls tearing. The stated 100mm travel from the entry level budget forks, actually only giving an 80mm travel and only benefited by heavier riders.
After having rode my Karakoram Elite, I'm find myself dispiting the claims made in the poor reviews. The XT shadow paired with Avid fastfire shifters, run very smoothly, with lightening response in transition. The big 29er tyres offer a smooth rolling fun experience, and its tread handled wet, muddy inclines very well, with its large diameter making mole hills out of mountains.
The transition from wet to dry surface offered no problems. The RaceKing handles each surface with ease.....and did I mention FAST.
I gound the RockShox with turkey lockout and rebound adjustment an asset to the whole experience. Opting for fast rebound for added confidence in my trails.
This model is a great hardtail, and offers more than a trail bike, its frame albeit around 14kg in weight, is strong but agile. A great XC as well as a casual trail tackler.
I would recommend this bike to any casual trail rider, or XC beginner. Its amazing value, offering highend leading brand names in components and renowned structural design offers more than most other brands in its class. I love that I've gone with GT. Offering the same same repution in moutain bikes as they do in the BMX trend.
