The GT Factory Racing Team kicked off the 2018 Downhill World Cup season with a trip to beautiful Losinj, Croatia. The course was real and rough, a good test to shake off the cobwebs at the start of the season! Our in-house TV personality Wyn Masters had a great season opener, finishing 44th on the day. Our new Junior racer, Joey Foresta, showed what he’s got by qualifying 4th, and coming 6th on race day. We cannot wait to see what he can do as he settles into the racing life! Geroge Brannigan is still recovering from a broken collarbone – look out for him on the race track soon!

Here is what the team had to say:

“The least you can say is that Croatia was a season opener to remember and repeat! Good to see that a venue like this was added to the calendar.

I’m proud about the way Joey handled his first world cup ever. He rode professional and smart over the last 2 weeks. Expect much more to come from this young man!

Our multi-talent Wyn swapped his EWS bike for GT’s new prototype DH machine and loved racing on this Island!

Unfortunately George Brannigan had to sit this one out after breaking his collarbone for the 3rd time. He got fixed up in New Zealand last week. The whole team wishes him a speedy recovery!” – Mark Maurissen, Team Manager

“Had the time of my life in Croatia! Had so much fun hanging out with the team and riding! I’m very happy with my result and excited for the rest of the season!” – Joey Foresta

“Lošinj, Croatia was a pretty cool venue for the first round of the World Cup DH series this year. not only was a track a real DH track and a challenge, the island itself was amazing, and it was actually my birthday that week too. So made the most of a good week together with all the team, going fishing, riding up mountains and then finally racing bikes, 44th place wasn't what I was hoping for coming in but all in all it was good to get the season started and looking forward to more good times in Fort William!” – Wyn Masters

Look out for GT Factory Racing next in Montagnes du Caroux on May 12 and 13 for round 3 of the Enduro World Series.
