European EWS Series Round 1, Val di Fassa Italy
GTFR's Israeli purveyor of fun, Noga Korem is always looking for ways to keep her training interesting so she dropped in on the first round of the European EWS series in Val di Fassa, Italy, with a few of her friends to race and take in some incredible food and scenery. With a strong field of competitors in attendance, the 5-stage race would be more than just a cruise through the Italian countryside. Noga started strong with a win on Stage 1, then kept up the momentum by winning four of the five stages taking the overall win! Noga now will pack up her trophy and bike and travel to Petzen Austria for the next round of the Enduro World Series next weekend.
Crankworx, Les Gets, France
Round 3 of the Crankworx World Tour took over the quaint village of Les Gets, France over the weekend. GT Wing Project athlete Tyler "TMac" McCaul is a busy man at the Crankworx events. Not only does he compete in the Dual Speed & Style, Whip Off's and Dual Slalom events he also is the co-host commentator of the Slopestyle event at each stop Crankworx stop. The Dual Speed & Style event wrangles up the racers and the Slopestyle riders combining talent and skill to see who can rip down the course with some technical tricks mixed in. Tyler is one of the fastest and most stylish riders out there and showed that as he worked his way through the elimination rounds all the way to the final. After two very close races, TMac would narrowly miss out on the win but was stoked nonetheless. Great job TMac!
Utah Gravity Series Round 2, Nordic Valley, Utah
GT's junior DH racer Joey Foresta is enjoying a bit of a break between World Cup races but that is not keeping him off of his bike. The GTFR rookie polished up his GT Sanction and took on some of the fastest racers in the Inter-Mountain region at the Utah Gravity Series event in Nordic Valley, Utah. With word of Foresta lining up to race it would get the betting pools going to see who would put down the fastest time of the day. With the likes of world-class racers such as Mitch Ropelato in attendance, it would keep things interesting. After everyone crossed the finish line and times were tabulated Joey would earn the win in his Junior Expert class and also the honor of the fastest time of the day against the Pro class! This 16-year-old is just getting started.
USABMX East Coast National/Summer Nationals
The summer BMX race series is in full swing and this past weekend was a busy one. USABMX held national events on both sides of the US with the Summer National event in Roseville, CA and the East Coast National in Trumbull, CT. Both are legendary tracks and had the good fortune of nice weather and great racing. Out on the West coast, young GT Factory BMX ripper Aiden Otten was running solo repping the GT colors and flying on his GT Speed Series Expert XL. "Rotten Otten" had one of the largest classes with 31 riders to do battle within the 11-year-old Expert division. Aiden would lead several of the qualifying rounds and was able to haul home the hardware from a hard fought for 4th, 5th, and a 6th place finish over three days of racing. GT had a tremendous presence at the East Coast National with the Powers Factory BMX team in attendance. The mobile shop and team pit were abuzz all weekend and the team riders were looking fast!
