What is it that you love about Freestyle?
Im huge on freestyle! Freestyle is the chance to go out and be yourself. Using your bike as an extension of your personality just makes sense. I love that you can get on a bike and be so undoubtably yourself no one can say “you are doing it wrong”. It’s impossible to do Freestyle wrong.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you are not riding a bike?
Hanging out with my partner and newborn of course! We just had a baby girl and we love spending time with her. I also love Art! I love to draw. I’m pretty one sided about bikes so all my art is all bicycle or some sort of extreme sports related.

What has been your favorite trick to learn?
Hang 5s and icepick grinds! Ive always struggled with both but recently I’ve been taking a little time to figure out my balance tricks and its been an awesome learning experience. Thats the kind of stuff that can really test you patience.

Tell us about your worst crash.
Feeble grind on a mellow ramp hand rail. I was out riding street with my friends and I started trying to feeble this rail. I was getting on every time but not making it to the end. Once I gave it a good honest attempt my front wheel slid off the rail. I tried to put my hands out but it was too late. I bashed my front teeth into the roof of my mouth and bruised my chin and cheek along the way. That was pretty much the worst/scariest things I’ve done.

Who are your favorite riders to watch and why?
Im a huge fan of all types of street riding. Brian Kachinsky, Dan Conway, Simone Barraco, Alex Donnachie, Devon Smillie, Kyle Hart, Mark Burnett… the list goes on. I like to watch people that take the environment around them and make it their own. It’s amazing what the right rider can do at a spot that you might’ve thought everything has been done at.

How did Boxpalm get started and where do you get inspiration for your artwork?
Boxpalm started out as some puns illustrated. It was completely anonymous at first. Some of the first ideas with Huey “the box character” was a rider hiding inside a box being themselves having fun just riding bikes. Thats what I like to hold onto with Boxpalm. No matter what its always about the fun first! Currently I grab inspiration from everywhere. Friends, family, riding, a loose chain, a broken 1/4 pipe, battling a trick, and pretty much anything that sparks my brain at the right time.

What’s the biggest BMX related goal you are working towards right now?
I have a couple video projects that I’d like to finish off the year with. Projects that take my interest in art and BMX then meshes them together. Hopefully it all makes sense, I’m really excited on the potential to build my two worlds up as one.
